About Reiki

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a light-touch form of bodywork therapy which transmits energy and healing through the hands of the practitioner. It is a holistic therapy which means that it treats the whole person, not just symptoms of disease.

How does it work?
Reiki energy is transmitted through the hands of the practitioner to the patient, enabling the body to tap into its own natural healing resources, having a positive effect on the whole person physically, mentally and emotionally.

Is Reiki safe?
It is believed that Reiki energy works only for the Highest Good of each person and can NOT cause harm. It is safe for anyone and for any situations including pregnant women, children and pets.

Will it make me better?
Reiki causes the release of toxins stored in the system, raises the immune system, and relaxes the person completely, creating conditions within which the body may restore itself, reverse the dis-ease process and achieve optimum vitality. The effects of Reiki continue to work long after a treatment and with regular treatment the effects are normally greater.

Are there any sensations during or after the Reiki treatment?
It really depends on the individual. You might not feel anything, but this does not mean that Reiki is not working. However, you might have sensations during or after the treatment such as: heat, cold, tingling, buzzing, rocking, relaxation, sleepiness, or other. It may happen also that the symptoms worsen after the treatment, but just for a short period of time, after which you will feel wonderful. It is important to drink lots of water to aid the cleansing of the body.

What conditions does Reiki treat?
Reiki, as an holistic therapy, treats you, not what is wrong with you. Reiki has been known to treat a variety of ailments extremely successfully as follows:

Stress, anxiety, depression, migraines, headache, insomnia, IBS, chronic fatigue, dietary/eating disorders, indigestion, liver and gall-bladder problems, infantile colic, back pain, neck pain, jaw pain, cramps, arthritis, high blood pressure, recurrent infections, allergies, wounds and bruises,  unexplained rashes and lumps, hyperactivity, learning difficulties, Multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and cancer as well as skin problems, cuts, bruises, broken bones, headache, colds, flu, sore throat, sunburn, fatigue, insomnia, impotence, poor memory and lack of confidence. The list can go on and on. However, please keep in mind that Reiki is a complementary therapy and is not a replacement for traditional medical attention.

What are the 5 principles of Reiki?

  • Just for today, I will not anger
  • Just for today, I will not worry
  • Just for today, I will be grateful
  • Just for today, I will work hard on myself
  • Just for today, I will be kind to others
